Terrorism

September 11, 2001

There is no justification for murder.

Islamic terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners; three of which were crashed into monuments of life in the United States of America. The entire free world was shocked by the horror associated with the lost of thousands of innocent people. The rush to judgment was swift, and the call for revenge rang from ocean to ocean.

The terror of that day impacted millions of lives. Not just those poor souls strapped in their airplane seats, or the flight attendant with her hands ties behind her back, or the office worker, those from around the world,  sitting at their desk at the World Trade Center. We lost some of our bravest souls in those people that rushed to the disaster to help. Firemen, police officers, and emergency personnel also lost their lives as did those common everyday folks that stopped their flight to lend a hand to those injured or handicapped in some way. There are also the families that lost loved ones. The co-workers that lost colleagues and friends. The Arab-Americans, all seven million of them, that will have to endure the hatred of the ignorant. The nation that lost its sense of impunity.

Now as the dust settles, wounds heal, and loved ones are put to rest we, all people, must seek the knowledge that this experience has brought us.

There is no justification for terror, murder, and destruction. Those that engage, and lend support to terrorist acts aimed at innocent civilians must be captured, and neutralized.

Now, what makes a terrorist?

The terrorists are those individuals so committed to a cause or belief that they willing sacrifice their own lives and the lives of others. They are certainly extremist, and most often fanatical, but not all of them. Terrorist, and those that support them, are driven people that are not necessarily ignorant or unintelligent. They are dangerous. However, their causes are sometimes based in ideologies that are foreign to the thinking of many in the world. Religion is the primary driver for most terrorist activities, but there are also others that turn to terror in an effort to rid their lands of those foreign to their beliefs. . All in the name of GOD. And, terrorist have no corner on the market of attaching GOD to the deeds of men.

It is religion that is frightening. Most religions subscribe to some acceptance that the CREATOR made man as he is in his natural form. However, these same religions, founded by men to control the actions of other men, make an effort to fit GOD into human form with emotions, and extremities. Some mystical person sitting in the clouds overseeing all that occurs in the universe. No, that’s not quite correct. Most religions put GOD’s focus on Earth; not the other eight planets that make up our solar system. That may be the first mistake of religion. GOD created the heavens and the earth. The stars are God. The planets are God. Man is not God.

From the beginning of recorded time men have used religion to further their own earthly ambitions. The priests of Egypt keep the gold and the knowledge. The Popes of Rome commanded armies that plundered as they spread their brand of religion to other lands. The missionaries brought the Bible to Africa along with diseases of the mind and the body.

There is the other side of religion, and that is the good done by churches, mosques, and temples across the face of the earth. And, human beings need religion for their inner peace as well as the foundation for interaction with other human beings. Unfortunately, the reality is that most preachers do not practice what they preach, and most that listen to the sermons do not live their lives accordingly. Bottom line; religion is a most often told lie.

To think that a CREATOR that can created the stars in the night skies would direct one man to kill other men in the name of God is to embrace a stupid thought. GOD gave humans arms, but no directions as to how to use those arms. It is the person that decides to either embrace, push back, or strike out.

The terrorist has opted to be the messenger of death, misery, fear, and hatred. They chosen to murder those that do not see the world as they do. And all terrorists do not come from the Middle East. The KKK are terrorists as are the White Power Militias, and the Irish Republic Army (IRA), and, unfortunately, the list is much longer of those that prefer to kill those different then themselves over the tolerance of live and let live.

Terrorism will never prevail. It never has, and history shows up that over time, but still men turn to terrorism to further their causes. Some men are STUCK ON STUPID, but, thank God, not all people. The terrorist must be circumvented, captured, and prosecuted for their crimes against mankind. There can be no safe haven for those that murder in the name of God, or any other cause.

The madness must end.
